Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage
TOTAL BODY HEAD TO TOE
While the term “massage” traditionally means “to knead” and involves a variety of deep tissue techniques, Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage (or MLD) feels like a gentle stretch pulling against the skin. The lymphatic system resides just below the skin and carries waste products from the body back to the heart to be processed and disposed of. Lymphatic fluid is made up of water, protein, cell fragments, and fats (long chain fatty acids). It can also contain toxins in the body, such as stress hormones (cortisol). Following treatment, patients can expect to experience an increased diuretic effect for 24-48 hours and should drink 2-3X the amount of water they typically would consume. Patients are also likely to experience analgesic effects and increased feelings of calmness for up to a week following treatment.
Total body treatment sessions are recommended for MOST new patients
